Halloween 2020 might have people feeling a little blue, but Blue Moons Over My Hammy is a reason to celebrate. Denny’s is turning its iconic menu item, Moons Over My Hammy blue for the spooky occasion. Will it make you burst into song?
Did you know that Halloween 2020 marks the first Halloween night since 1944 that a Blue Moon will occur? Sure, some people will be focusing on turning back the clocks on Halloween night or eating copious amounts of Halloween candy, this special lunar event is a reason to celebrate.
Even though that Blue Moon might not bring out the werewolves or other spooky creatures, it will bring out many people to get a taste of Blue Moons Over My Hammy. Denny’s, America’s Dinner, will be offering this special menu item for the very first, and only, time.
The limited edition menu item will be featured at select Miami-Dade area Denny’s locations on Halloween, October 31.
“Only in 2020 would a Blue Moon coincide with Halloween – so what better way to celebrate than by giving one of our most legendary breakfasts, the Moons Over My Hammy, a little makeover?” said John Dillon, chief brand officer for Denny’s. “With Halloween looking very different this year, we took the opportunity to make our world famous sandwich look different as well, and this colorful upgrade gave us an opportunity to have some fun and show our guests that anything is possible in 2020!”

If you aren’t familiar with the classic Moons Over My Hammy, the breakfast sandwich features ham and scrambled eggs. Then it is topped with Swiss and American cheese. The whole thing is served on sourdough bread and is toasted.
While many people love the name of the breakfast sandwich, it is inspired by Moon Over Miami, a 1935 jazz song. This iconic Denny’s breakfast sandwich has been part of the Denny’s menu since the early 1990s.
Although only people in the Miami-Dade area will get this colorful treat, it could inspire some Halloween 2020 fun at home. Why not make some colorful food for the spooky celebration. From green eggs to purple French Toast, the options are many. Playing with your food is allowed on Halloween.
