The award-winning Black Eyed Peas join Barefoot wines to give back.

Any time you can enjoy new music from a wildly-popular group and parlay that pleasure into helping others, you’re having your cake and eating it too. Or in the case of the Black Eyed Peas and their partnership with Barefoot wines, you’re having a tasty libation and bopping along too.

Through their new “Band Together” initiative, the Black Eyed Peas are working with Barefoot to benefit two worthy causes. Every time a fan uses a custom app to scan the QR code on their Barefoot product of choice, the result will be a contribution to CORE and the American Cancer Society. After scanning the QR, awaiting listeners is exclusive access to an augmented reality performance of the band’s new hit song “Vida Loca”.

CORE (Children of Restaurant Employees) is a national non-profit that’s dedicated to providing financial relief to restaurant industry employees with children when either the parent or child faces a health crisis, injury, death, or natural disaster.

“Families are at the heart of all we do at CORE.” says Colleen Brennan, Chair of the Board, adding that “We essentially turn the table and serve those who serve us every day.” And at a time when the restaurant industry and its workers are heavily-impacted by the pandemic, the “Band Together” initiative takes on even greater meaning.

The Black Eyed Peas’ involvement with the American Cancer Society is personal.

American Cancer Society has long been near & dear to the Black Eyed Peas, as band member Taboo’s 2014 diagnosis of stage 2 testicular cancer led to him becoming an ambassador for the organization. The group has continued to find ways to partner with the charity ever since. “I’m not trying to leave just a catalog of music. I want to leave a legacy that speaks to humanity,” said Taboo in a public service announcement for the American Cancer Society after sharing his story several years ago.

In talking about the partnership with Barefoot, the Black Eyed Peas said that “The Band Together campaign with Barefoot has been amazing. Seeing so many people come together and connect over their shared love of music and wine while supporting two incredible charities has been gratifying. Watching everyone experience the app, listening to the music, and sharing on social media along the way has been fun.”

Pairing music and wine is natural for almost any occasion, but when you can combine the pleasure that both provide with philanthropy, the resulting notes, from both the Black Eyed Peas and Barefoot wine, strike a perfect chord.
