McDonald’s commits $100 million to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

For families, Ronald McDonald House Charities are the lifeline that helps to keep them together. While McDonald’s has long supported this charitable organization, it is looking to do more this holiday season. More importantly, it is asking everyone to spread a little love, visually. Are you ready to share a heart with others?

Now through December 31, McDonald’s will give $100 in a person’s name when they “post a photo or video making the RMHC heart symbol (or another supportive message) to Instagram, Twitter, TikTok or Facebook using #HereForRMHC.”

Here’s how to make the RMHC heart symbol with your hands:

  1. Build the house by forming a diamond with your hands
  2. Show us the chimney by pointing your pinky up
  3. Put your heart into it by pushing your index fingers down

As seen throughout the past year, people can come together when others need it the most. From words of support to images of encouragement, the most meaningful gestures come from the heart.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are joining McDonald’s in their support for Ronald McDonald House Charities and this program. They said, “Anyone who knows us, knows that the most important thing to us is family. When you’re able to lean on loved ones, the hard times always get a little easier. We can’t imagine how agonizing it must be when you’re not able to be there with your sick child. We were inspired by McDonald’s longtime commitment to RMHC, and now we want the world to know how we can all take action to support this amazing charity through the #HereForRMHC challenge,”

Periodically, there have been various social media challenges. Many people have had a bucket of ice water dumped on their head. While these challenges connect people, they serve a bigger purpose.

Beyond the monetary donations from McDonald’s, this challenge stands as a reminder people are stronger when they make a heartfelt connection. From times of struggle to moments of joy, family, friends and community need each other more than ever.

As McDonald’s President and CEO Chris Kempczinski said, “I’ve been so inspired by the way RMHC is there for families, day and in and day out, during the most difficult times in their lives — that’s what being part of a community is all about.”

While some people might want to push the fast forward button to the end of 2020, this heartfelt challenge is a reminder to take just a moment to spread some love with others. That simple gesture, symbol or kind word does make a difference. Even if you do not see the person impacted, those actions do make a difference.

This holiday season, take a moment to share a little love with others. While it would be heartwarming to see everyone join the Ronald McDonald House Charities #HereForRMHC challenge, the goodwill doesn’t have to be limited to just this social media post. While a classic holiday character’s heart grows three sizes during the holidays, wouldn’t it be inspiring for everyone’s support of others to grow exponentially as 2020 ends.
