On Hell’s Kitchen Season 19 episode 9, the chefs are putting their palates to the test. What’s the difference between a chef and a cook? It is their palate. Who’s ready to prove their worth in Hell’s Kitchen?

According to FOX, the Hell’s Kitchen Season 19 episode 9 “Blind Taste Test” features the following:

"The nine remaining chefs take on the infamous “blind taste test” challenge. Later, it’s steak night in the Hell’s Kitchen dining room and while one team excels, the other can’t keep pace in the all-new “Blind Taste Test” episode of HELL’S KITCHEN airing Thursday, March 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

While the chefs often do well in tasting dishes, a blind taste test is a different ball game. When one sense is removed, it is hard to tell the difference between an apple and a pear. Sure, both are fruits but that visual can lead your brain to some different cues.

Still, this challenge is a great measure for Gordon Ramsay. He wants a chef who has a good palate. Understanding the hows and whys certain food goes together better relies on a great palate. It is more than just knowing if a dish is under-seasoned. When a dish hits all the right flavor profiles, it is the perfect bite.

Although blind taste test is important, the dinner service is where chef’s fate is sealed. Even though both the Red Team and Blue Team have had high points and low points, the reality is that each chef is only as good as his last cook. Unfortunately, a bad night in Hell’s Kitchen can have a chef being sent home.

At this point in the competition, a few chefs are starting to pull away from the competition. Niki might have started off slow but she has proven her palate and cooking skills. The same can be said of Mary Lou and Kori.

On the Blue Team, Declan has always been a strong chef. If the Blue Team can find their harmony, it could be possible for them to roll to victory.

Which team will prove that they are chefs not cooks? Here’s how to watch Hell’s Kitchen Season 19 episode 9.
