Refreshing Jameson cocktails to enjoy while taking St. Patrick’s Day off
While a leprechaun might be searching for a pot of gold, Jameson cocktails are truly the golden gift to serve on St. Patrick’s Day. Even though the holiday falls mid-week, Jameson has encouraged everyone to take St. Patrick’s Day off this year. And, any vacation day deserves a joyous Slainte with an Irish cocktail.
As Joe Lo Truglio shared his St. Patrick’s Day traditions, the annual celebration isn’t just for people with a direct connection to the Emerald Isle. Since everyone is a wee bit Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, some Jameson cocktails make for a more sophisticated celebration than that green beer.
Although Jameson over ice is always a great choice, using the Irish Whiskey in a cocktail is equally as enjoyable. Truthfully, many classic whiskey cocktails are delightful with Jameson. From a classic Sidecar to an Old Fashioned, the traditional Irish spirit always has a home in the cocktail glass.
This year, Jameson partnered with Retta Sirleaf to share a special cocktail as part of its St. Patrick’s Day Off campaign. Check out this video.
While Retta’s version includes that “fresh pressed apple juice,” you can skip that part. But, if you feel the need to de-stress a little and press out your frustrations, by all means press that apple.
Here’s how to make Jameson and Juice.
Ingredients
- 2 Parts Jameson Original
- 4 Parts Green Apple Juice or Cider
- Green Apple Slice for garnish
Method:
- Build in glass over ice
- Garnish with green apple slice if desired.
If you are serving some traditional Irish food for St. Patrick’s Day, it can be hard to find the perfect pairing. Luckily, there are several Jameson cocktails that work well with corned beef or just a tasty slice of Irish soda bread.
One cocktail is the Jameson Ginger Sparkler. Here’s how to make it.

- 1.5 parts Jameson Black Barrel
- 0.5 parts Lemon juice
- 0.5 parts simple syrup

- Add Ice
- Shake
- Strain as you pour into a highball glass
- top with Sparkling Wine

Lastly, sometimes the simple cocktails deserve a moment to be celebrated. For example, the Irish Lemonade is the perfect drink for St. Patrick’s Day.
Just like the start of spring, the flavors are bright and refreshing. From the tartness of the lemon to the mint for a burst of refreshment, this cocktail could be an all-time favorite.
