Food Network fans know that Duff Goldman has limitless imagination as seen with his amazingly creative Charm City Cakes. With the help of Jim Henson’s Puppets, Duff’s Happy Fun Bake Time will bring the whole family together to watch this new discovery+ series. What magical sweet creations will Duff and friends bring to life?

According to discovery+, the new show is more than just dessert recipes. Blending together humor and fun, Duff and his puppet friends look to teach how food and ingredients work together. With some basic cooking techniques, viewers of all ages will be engaged to pick up the spatula and get mixing.

While Goldman has captivated Food Network fans for years, this new discovery+ show takes a different approach. Goldman said, “I think cooking is absolutely fascinating and I wanted to make a show that explained why things happen the way they do in the kitchen. When I understand the science behind the food I make, I somehow feel more connected to it and I wanted to share that with everyone.”

Of course, this food adventure will not feel like a school lesson. It blends the hows and whys in a way that makes it interesting for viewers. Although these explanations might not make that next baking fail inevitable, it could help to make that next birthday cake much more festive.

Some of Goldman’s friends from this other shows, like longtime collaborator, Geof Manthorne, will be part of the fun. In addition, the puppet characters in the kitchen include Couscous, Dizzy, Edgar, S’Later and Dragon Oven. Given Goldman’s love unicorns, it is surprising that a unicorn figure didn’t join the kitchen experiment. Although, the Dragon Oven might be equally as impressive than the Battlecorn.

The fun characters with robust personalities turn a food show into a story. While many chefs appreciate that food is the universal language, the Jim Henson puppets draw people into the experience. Although this puppet and food show concept has been explored previously, this discovery+ offering looks to add an all-ages humor that will make people want to watch and appreciate the learning along the way.
