Although blue might be some people’s favorite Sour Patch Kids, there is something irresistible about that sweet and sour candy. Whether you eat one color at a time or grab the candy by the handful, the flavor always delivers a big punch.

For the first time ever, the popular candy will offer a mystery flavor. Now through July, specially marked bags will feature a mystery Sour Patch Kids flavor. While those cheeky candy kids will be dropping flavor clues, the person who can guess the correct answer could win $50,000. Even if you aren’t a great flavor detective, there will be many prizes to be had through this special promotional event.

Looking at the brand, the current candy flavors include lime, lemon, orange, redberry and blue raspberry. Along the way, there have been a variety of other flavor options. From watermelon to strawberry and peach to mango, there have been a long list of flavor options.

While the brand could use one of the less common or limited edition flavors as the mystery flavor, it seems likely that it would be a whole new flavor. Given that it is included with the other traditional flavors, it most likely will meld with those options. It seems doubtful that the brand would go completely off the rails with the flavor combination.

Also, the flavor needs to work in a sweet and sour profile. For example, banana doesn’t necessarily work in that realm. A sour banana flavor doesn’t sound that appealing.

One option could be pineapple. That fruity flavor could be a little tart in the right circumstances. Also, kiwi could be a good option. Many kids like the combination of berries and kiwi.

Overall, everyone will have to actually taste the candy in order to make a determination. Anyone can speculate what it could or should be.
