For Starbucks, especially at the Starbucks Reserve Roasteries, the beverages “start with coffee.” According to Jennifer Galbraith, a simple question guides the process. While looking to “highlight” and “elevate” the “rare Starbucks Reserve coffees,” the beverage takes shape. Without the coffee, there would be no beverage.

While that concept seems logical, at first glance it might not be instantly apparent. Many of the beverages at the Starbucks Reserve Roasteries are a quite creative both in flavor and appearance.

Although many people think about blending coffee with cream and sugar, these beverages are different. From the layered appearance to the fruit puree, the beverages are perfect for the change of seasons.

For the Spring, Starbucks is offering two special Espresso Dolce offerings at its Starbuck Reserve Roasteries and Roastery and Starbucks Reserve store locations. While many people gravitate toward those secret menu Frappuccinos, these beverages offer a more elegant approach.

Available only at Seattle, Chicago and New York City Starbucks Reserve Roasteries, the Mandarin Espresso Dolce brings the brightness of citrus to each sip. Made with “Mandarin and tangerine puree,” the citrus notes pair perfectly with “fior di latte and espresso.” Served over ice, this beverage is delightful as an afternoon treat, morning pick me up, or even brunch pairing.

The Passionfruit Pomegranate Espresso Dolce is more widely available. This beverage brings a taste of the exotic to the glass. From the tartness of the pomegranate to the sweetness of the Blood Orange, the drink is nuanced yet intriguing. Even after the last sip is gone, it is an enigma.
