The Lay’s Doritos Cool Ranch brings that zesty flavor to a potato chip. While the potato chip is a little thinner than a traditional Doritos chip, the flavor combination is good. Think about putting ranch on a baked potato. The flavor combination really works.

For the Lay’s Wavy Funyuns Onion, it is a new take on an onion forward chip. Funyuns have a unique flavor. In some ways, this potato chip for people who like onion but don’t like sour cream.

Also, it is really important that Lay’s used the Wavy style potato chip for this offering. The texture seems to enhance not just the flavor but also the enjoyment.

Thinking about this concept, it is a really interesting idea to see two snack brands “Flavor Swap.” Given the long list of snack brands under the Frito-Lay line, this idea could continue for a long time. From Cheetos to Nacho Cheese Doritos, there could be a whole line of swappable options.

Looking at the recent Lay’s limited-edition flavors, these flavors swaps seem to embrace a different food trend. Instead of global flavors or transforming other food into a snack, this idea shows the versatility of snack brands. When people love a particular taste, why can’t it be used in different ways. Maybe a Doritos Cool Ranch seasoning could be on the horizon. Wouldn’t you put that flavor on a baked potato?
