Whether it is sitting by the pool or grilling in the backyard, Natural Light has been a mainstay since 1977. While that Naturdays vibe has taken on new meaning in the past couple of years, the truth is that the brand epitomizes those easy going, enjoyable moments. With the new Natural Light Vodka, the popular beverage brand looks to once again separate itself from the pack.

While many people have enjoyed the Naturdays Frozen Icicles, Natural Light Sour Seltzers, and Naturdays Pineapple Lemonade, the Natural Light Vodka is not a beer, malt beverage or hard seltzer. It is a vodka. At 30% alc/vol, the beverage needs to be drunk with care, but isn’t on the extreme side of the ABV scale.

Available in three flavors, Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade and Black Cherry Lemonade, the flavors pull from that easy going, laid back vibe. While it might not be that sip out of a mason jar, it isn’t that pinky out cocktail either. Served simply over ice, it is a refreshing diversion from all the beer forward beverages.

As Daniel Blake, Group VP, Budweiser & Value at Anheuser-Busch said, “Natural Light is constantly looking to innovate to meet the evolving flavor preferences of our fans. Nothing is off the table.”

That sentiment is interesting since this expansion might be a game changer for beverage brands. While there are often brand collaborations, the expansion of a classic beer brand into the spirits category could spark a larger change. If brand loyalty runs deep, more and more beer brands could look to adapt this concept.

Given that “flavored vodka is one of the fastest growing segments in spirits,” according to Blake, the expansion for Natural Light is logical, especially given its Naturadays success. The flavors fit into the brand’s beverage profile and its customer base. Now, the cooler and the bar can be stocked with Natural Light.

Having tasted all three flavors, these vodkas are easy, drinkable and delightful served simply over ice. For some people, they might just want to blend it with ice for a summer drink. The lemonade, served with a slice of lemon, is refreshing on a hot day. The sweetness is present, but not overly so.

While Natural Light launched with three vodka flavors, it will be interesting to see if additional flavors will be added next summer. It might be nice to see a blueberry or even a pineapple option to keep that outdoor fun vibe going.

Although some people might question this product launch, Natural Light is putting its money on this product launch. As Blake said, “We’re such believers in the taste of Natty Vodka, we’ll guarantee you’ll love it or you get money back.”
