Burger King makes waves with two new chicken nuggets menu additions
Royal Perks members will need to polish their crown because Burger King just announced two new chicken nuggets menu items. While guests always have it their way at BK, the quick service restaurant appreciates that it needs to push the conversation forward. For Burger King, everything is possible.
As one of the first quick service restaurants to collaborate with Impossible Foods, Burger King knows that the plant-based food space is not just a food trend, it is a priority with guests. Having options on the menu is key for guests who are looking for menu variety.
Starting on October 11, Burger King will test Impossible Nuggets at selection locations in Des Moines, IA, Boston, MA and Miami, FL. According to the brand, Burger King will be “first global quick-service restaurant brand to test the plant-based nuggets from Impossible Foods.”
Ellie Doty, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King North America spoke to the continued collaboration between BK and Impossible Foods. Doty said, “In 2019, we became the first quick-service restaurant to serve the award-winning, plant-based Impossible patty and offer the iconic Impossible Whopper. So, it’s only fitting we’re the first global QSR to test the Impossible Nuggets. We’re excited to hear what our guests in the test markets think of this latest innovation.”
While Burger King asserts that the Impossible Nuggets are “clucking delicious,” guests will have to voice their own opinion. In this case, it is more than just a great tasting plant-based nugget. These nuggets need to taste like the BK nuggets but have a different protein. If BK and Impossible Foods can capture that crisp texture with a juicy center, they should be able to win over the chicken nugget expert.
How is the Burger King new chicken nuggets menu heating up the competition?
Since the Impossible Nuggets have a limited test market, the popular quick service restaurant didn’t want people to feel left out. BK is adding Ghost Pepper Nuggets for a limited time. The new chicken nuggets menu item is described as having white chicken meat seasoned with ghost pepper.
While everyone will have to get a taste to determine if they can handle the heat, these nuggets should offer the perfect balanced bite. And, if that spice is too scary, grab some ranch. The dairy can help bring those taste buds back to life.
Plus, there is a big benefit for Royal Perks members. Burger King shared that members will be able to “unlock” the Ghost Pepper Chicken Nuggets before the nationwide rollout on October 11. Royal Perks members will see the offer in their app starting today.
Even though Burger King is always home to the iconic Whopper, the quick service restaurant is heating up its chicken nuggets menu. Are you ready to try a taste of menu innovation?
