As many families prepare to celebrate the holidays, the First Family is welcoming viewers to a White House Thanksgiving. The Food Network holiday special featuring Trisha Yearwood and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will showcase not only the White House traditions but also give a glimpse into their personal food and family traditions.

Airing on November 20 at 12 p.m. and streaming on Discovery+, the holiday special will feature favorite recipes from the First Family as well as discuss certain family traditions. From the First Lady’s Grandmom Jacobs’ Savory Stuffing recipe to Trisha’s Thanksgiving Gravy recipe, the combination of stories and flavors makes this food television special a feast to enjoy. Even White House Executive Pastry Chef Susan Morrison shared show to make the White House Apple Crisp recipe. Of course, it is served with President Biden’s favorite dessert, a chocolate chip ice cream topping.

As First Lady Dr. Jill Biden said, “The family recipes passed down through the generations, the fun traditions that continue, and the meaningful blessings shared, all keep me filled with gratitude.” That sentiment is felt by many families. Food is the love language that connects people and breaks down the barriers. A table invites everyone to feast on food and togetherness.

That sentiment is shared by Trisha Yearwood as well. She said, “I hope this special is a reminder to all of us about what we all have in common. Love one another.” As more people gather around the table this year, that time together holds a great reason to cherish those times together.

While the Food Network will be filled with food television programming during the holiday season, this glimpse into the White House celebration is more than another recipe how-to or way to entice people with a beautiful dish. The program looks to implore people to find the time to celebrate those special traditions or even form new ones. From Thanksgiving to Friendsgiving to a term yet to be defined, the holiday table is waiting to be filled with love. Where words may be hard to say, food can be the expression that everyone is feeling.

A White House Thanksgiving airs on Saturday, November 20 at 12 p.m. ET/PT and streams on Discovery+ the same day.
