For many people, the holiday meal is not complete without delicious side dishes and Green Giant vegetables wants them to the star of the celebration. Now, that classic casserole is en vogue both on and off the plate.

While healthy eating and mom’s advice about eating plenty of colorful vegetables is often on the mind, the reality is that the holiday meal is full of a plethora of food options. Finding room for that scoop of green beans or corn might have shrunk next to the copious amounts of stuffing and turkey.

This year, Green Giant vegetables is offering a fashionable, visual reminder to get an extra serving of those good for you vegetables on the plate. As Jordan Greenberg, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, B&G Foods, said “We are quite literally giving Americans the opportunity to wear their love of all things casserole on their sleeves.”

While ugly sweaters might not necessarily be “ugly,” they are great conversation starters. From the vibrant colors to the curious designs, the reality is that these holiday staples make a bold fashion statement around the table.

Now through November 17, everyone can enter to win a free ugly Thanksgiving sweater from Green Giant. The three designs are based on popular Thanksgiving casseroles, like green bean casserole and corn casserole. For more information and how to enter can be found on the Green Giant website.

How is Green Giant vegetables giving back this holiday season?

While the Thanksgiving side dish ugly sweaters make a visual statement at the table, Green Giant vegetables believe that the holiday celebration is more than just an overflowing plate and spirited conversation. This year, the brand encourages everyone to share a little extra when they pass that casserole dish.

From November 18 through November 25, everyone is encouraged to share either their “vegetable casserole or Thanksgiving table scenes” via social media. Using the #PasstheCasserole and tagging @GreenGiant, the brand will donate $1 to No Kid Hungry.

As Greenberg expressed, “using this timely, together-at-the-table moment to support the important work being done by No Kid Hungry.” Sometimes a small gesture can make a world of difference.

According to No Kid Hungry, $1 dollar can create up to 10 meals for those in need. Given that food insecurity continues to be a concerning problem in the country, it is imperative to find ways to help those in need. In some ways, passing that casserole around the table can spark a conversation to help others as well as a moment of gratitude for the time spent together.

It is time to put the vegetables in the spotlight this holiday season. While Kermit might have said that it isn’t easy being green, Green Giant vegetables believe that sharing a little extra green around the table might be the perfect way to celebrate the holiday.
