While kids’ meals can make younger guests happy, the new Panda Express Panda Cub Meals are more than just a smaller portioned serving of popular food menu items. These better-for-you options prove that balanced and flavorful food choices make the whole family happy.

For families, a restaurant with great kids’ meals can tip the scales on that meal decision. While parents might want to evolve from that picky eater situation, the reality is that kids prefer certain food choices. Although there doesn’t necessarily have to be a prize served with that food, the reality is that certain flavors are more approachable for younger guests.

At the same time, that kids’ meal should be a balanced choice. Although many kids would love to have ice cream and cake for dinner, the reality is that healthy eating choices should be on the table.

What makes the Panda Express Panda Cub Meals different?

Focusing on balanced, flavorful choices, the three Panda Cub Meals feature both fruit and vegetables with classic dishes that kids have grown to love. Each meal is “less than 600 calories” and features a “junior entrée, junior side and choice of water or juice.”

The three meals are:

"The Original Orange Chicken® with ½ Super Greens and ½ White Steamed RiceGrilled Teriyaki Chicken with ½ Super Greens and ½ Chow MeinBroccoli Beef with ½ Super Greens and ½ White Steamed Rice"

What makes these kids’ meals different is that they are approved by the National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell program. Based on criteria from registered dieticians, these food choices have parents feel confident that they are picking a meal that is a better-for-you option. Given that “kids nutrition” has been an important conversation in the restaurant industry, Panda Express is giving consumers the options that they are craving.

According to Andrea Cherng, Chief Brand Officer at Panda Express. “Our new Panda Cub Meals are thoughtfully assembled with a nutrition-first mindset, using our most popular dishes and introducing a new healthy fruit snack. We want to make it easier for families to enjoy their favorite American Chinese meals while ensuring kids are getting the nutrients they need.”  From the 11 grams of protein to the fiber, parents can feel confident about serving these meals to their children.
