Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime is the ultimate food competition show
When Guy Fieri launches a new Food Network program, he goes bigger, bolder and pushes people out of their comfort zones. In the new Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime, the new competition show premiering on January 2 is more than making another Food Network star. It is about giving one hard working person the keys to the kingdom.
Fieri has been a champion of the restaurant industry. From raising funds to giving a glimpse into the Restaurant Hustle, the reality is that running a restaurant is tireless hard work. The people pushing the success within those four walls are driven to provide warm hospitality, delicious food and an experience that will linger long after the last crumb is devoured.
On Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime, seven candidates compete for the opportunity to become the owner of a new Chicken Guy franchise. It is more than big personality that will earn one person the coveted job. As every restaurant owner appreciates, a restaurant is a business. From front of house to a well-run line, every component is vital to be successful.
While Food Network has a multitude of culinary competitions, Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime is unlike other programs. According to Fieri, “I’ll tell you right now, this is NOT your every day, run-of-the-mill competition show. No eliminations, no meaningless cook-offs each week. It’s a real deal job interview for a life-changing opportunity.”
Even though there has been a rise in the importance of the celebrity chef, name recognition alone does not make a successful restaurant. This new Food Network show looks to highlight what is means to be a successful restaurant business.
As Courtney White, President, Food Network and Streaming Food Content, Discovery Inc., said, “We rolled cameras around the clock on Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime documenting every aspect of this unprecedented, grueling, 24/7 job interview. To win, these applicants study through the night, then rise at dawn to apply their new skills on the real-life restaurant line with Guy assessing their every move. The pressure and stakes couldn’t be higher. It’s an intense journey and thrilling to watch.”
Under the guidance of Robert Earl and other judges including, Maneet Chauhan, Hunter Fieri, Anthony Hoy Fong, Antonia Lofaso, Christian Petroni, and John Thall, this six-episode series should give viewers a better understanding of what it takes to run a successful restaurant. Maybe, diners will be a little more gracious the next time they walk through those business doors.
Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime premieres on Food Network, Sunday, January 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. In addition, it can be streamed on discovery+. Subscribers will get early access to the premiere episode on Sunday, December 26.
