The hard seltzer trend bubbles to the top of the conversation and the new Bud Light Seltzer flavors continue to innovate the beverage space. To end 2021 and to kick off 2022, the brand is launching two new variety packs that will have people talking. Ready to get loud in the new year?

Over the past year, Bud Light Seltzer has sought to bring big, bold flavors to the hard seltzer space. While the seasonal flavors had many people enticed to take a sip, that creativity wasn’t the only reason to have another variety pack in the house.

Given that many beverage drinkers know and trust Bud Light, they are willing to step outside of their comfort zone and experiment. Even if that light lager is their go-to beverage, they are willing to take a chance on that special offering because they know that Bud Light always delivers great flavors.

Since the hard seltzer market can be crowded, brands need to find a way to stand out on the shelf. For Bud Light Seltzer, that ability to be loud, whether in flavor or packaging, carves out a bigger niche on the shelf. It makes it easier for consumers to choose that variety pack over another.

What are the new Bud Light Seltzer flavors?

According to Andy Goeler, Vice President of Marketing, Bud Light, the direction for the brand is bold and unapologetic. “For the past several years, Bud Light Seltzer has continued to innovate and bring 21+ seltzer fans bold flavors, and now we’re starting the New Year off with our ‘Loudest Flavors Ever.’ As we continue to disrupt the seltzer category, our two new variety packs feature unique, fun and delicious flavors which we know seltzer drinkers are going to love!”

The two new variety packs are Bud Light Seltzer Sour and Bud Light Seltzer Hard Soda. While the Bud Light Seltzer Sour is a limited time offering, the Bud Light Seltzer Hard Soda is a permanent addition to the line-up.

Launching first, the limited time Bud Light Seltzer Sour features four flavors: Blue Raspberry, Watermelon, Lemon and Green Apple. Looking at the flavor options, there seems to be a connection to a previously released sour seltzer by another Anheuser-Busch brand. It will be curious to see if these flavors are similar or if they stand on their own.

Looking at the four flavors, the lemon will probably be the top choice. That flavor profile tends to work well with sour/tart without going too far astray. The Watermelon would be another good choice. Although, this flavor might be better suited for warmer weather.

It is interesting that the Bud Light Seltzer Sour is launching on December 27, 2021. While sour doesn’t necessarily have a season, some of these flavors tend to be more summer friendly. Then again, a little extra pucker can help cut through all the richness and heaviness that is often associated with winter food.

The Bud Light Seltzer Sour will be available starting on December 27, 2021. It will be sold in 12-pack variety packs.

Becoming a permanent part line, the new Bud Light Seltzer hard soda takes flavors that everyone knows and loves but gives them an adult twist. The four flavors are Classic Cola, Cherry Cola, Orange Soda and Citrus Soda.

Looking at the flavor descriptions, it appears that the soda flavors try to find middle ground on the cola flavors that people prefer. Described as “like that one with zero sugar,” the flavor should be approachable.

Thinking about this hard seltzer, it could be an alternative for a classic cola cocktail. With “less sugar” and more convenience, this grab, open and enjoy option could be a huge hit with many people. From parties to just because, this beverage could always be in the refrigerator.

The new Bud Light Seltzer Hard Soda will hit store shelves on January 3, 2022. It will be a permanent flavor.
