After three seasons of Buddy Valastro battling Duff Goldman on this Food Network competition, will Buddy vs Duff Holiday even the score again or will one celebrated pastry chef reign supreme? No matter the final outcome, Food Network fans were the ones given another food television present.

Over the years, the Buddy vs Duff shows have captivated viewers. While both Buddy and Duff have their own styles, the reality is that more often than not people are mystified about how they could create that food art. While taste might be most important on other food competitions, the imagery is king on this show.

For the Buddy vs Duff Holiday finale, the teams take on the theme of Winter Wonderland.

"For their final battle, Buddy Valastro and Duff Goldman create their own magical winter wonderlands. The teams construct arctic creatures and their habitats in displays of massive proportions, and the King of Holiday Cakes is crowned."

Although Duff has a one-point lead, that scenario is to be expected. As seen in previous seasons, the competition always comes down the finale. Whether or not viewers agree with the finale outcome is another story. Even in this season, there have been rumblings about the judges’ preferences.

But, this whole competition is subjective. There is no appeasing everyone. Even if the public was allowed to vote on their favorite, people would have to agree to disagree.

Thinking about this theme the massive adjective might benefit Buddy. His team is always about the big, gigantic, larger than life. From a huge Santa to a gigantic cake surrounded by the Rat King, everyone should expect that these creatures will be mammoth.

The key for Buddy to win will be the movement of the scene. Even the biggest looks need to have many places to catch the eye.

On the other hand, Duff knows how to capture the details and emotion with animals. His team’s sculpting is impeccable. It will be interesting to see how Natalie captures those creatures in a creative way.

But, all those little details need to be showcased in an engaging way. While the minutia is impressive, the challenge needs to have that instant wow factor. There is only so much that can be seen up close.

Still, the Buddy vs Duff Holiday finale might not need a huge win for Duff or Buddy. Given the popularity of this Food Network show, it seems likely that a regular season four could be coming. Just because Buddy or Duff is crowned King of Holiday Cakes doesn’t mean that the other title has disappeared.

Don’t miss the finale of Buddy vs Duff Holiday on Food Network on December 19 at 8 p.m. or stream it on Discovery+.
