Ready for making Butterbeer at home?

Here’s the Butterbeer recipe as provided by YorkTest.

Ingredients

  • One cup/236ml of club soda or cream soda
  • Half a cup/120ml of butterscotch syrup or a vegan alternative (such as The Skinny Food Co Zero Calorie Butterscotch Syrup)
  • Half a tablespoon of butter or vegan spread, softened
  • Heavy cream or soya cream (optional)
  • Traditional glass pint tankard mugs

Method

  • Pour the butterscotch syrup into a bowl. Butterscotch is essential to give the butterbeer its unique and magical flavor.
  • Add the softened butter or spread.
  • Combine the syrup and butter mix by mixing well.
  • Pour the cream soda or club soda into the mixture, and stir. Set aside for now.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, whip heavy whipping cream or vegan cream until it forms stiff peaks. You can do this by hand or with a mixer.
  • Pour the cream/club soda and butterscotch mixture into two clear mugs, and finish with a scoop or two of whipped cream. Enjoy!

This recipe is rather simple. Like other versions, it is quite sweet. Although some people might want to cut back on the syrup, it tends to ruin the beverage. It is sweet, it is frothy, and it is worth every sip.

For Harry Potter fans, the perfect beverage is waiting to be enjoyed while watching the Harry Potter 20th anniversary reunion special. And, this recipe is waiting to bring a little magic to the glass whenever it is needed.
