As the Alabama Crimson Tide prepare to battle the Georgia Bulldogs, the action on the field isn’t the only event that has people cheering. The College Football Playoff National Championship menu created by Sodexo Live has fans supporting their team with the food order. Which team-specific menu will raise the plate in victory?

Food and sports are forever entwined. From tailgating to homegating, the food menus are more than just satisfying a hunger. They represent the fans on a plate. Whether or not there is a lucky food, an iconic ingredient or just a creative tie-in, a memorable sporting event is incomplete without the perfect menu.

Over the years, stadiums and sports venues have enhanced their menus and food options to capture food trends and fan cravings. While those classic stadium bites are never far from reach, the familiar can be transformed to represent both food trends and the teams on the field.

What can fans enjoy on the College Football Playoff National Championship menu?

Ahead of the January 10 game, Sodexo Live shared some information on the special menu offerings curated for the championship game. Focusing on championship level hospitality, Steve Pangburn, Sodexo Live! North America, Chief Executive Officer believes that these offerings will be flavors that the fans will crave. Specifically, Pangburn said, “Our authentic Indianapolis cuisine, combined with our team-specific menu items, will ensure that, no matter the outcome of the on-field action, every fan in attendance leaves with a pleasant, memorable taste of Indianapolis.”

Created by Executive Chef Shimelis Adem, two menu highlights are The Crimson Tide Dog and the Bulldog Shrimp Tacos. In addition to the team specific offerings, the menu includes Whiskey Sour Pork Wings, Heartland Beer Cheese Steak Sandwich, and Hoosier Fried Chicken Sandwich.

Looking specifically at the two team themed menu items, they capture the flavors of each team’s locale. The Crimson Tide Dog is topped with pulled pork and spicy BBQ sauce. With onion straws for texture, the hot dog has a burst of heat yet enough sweetness to make each bite balanced, just like a team with both a powerful offense and defense.

The Bulldog Shrimp Tacos feature grilled peaches as a nod to the Southern state. The Cajun shrimp is paired with a peach pico and even a peach crema. The iconic stone fruit fills every bite. In some ways, this offering might be the recipe to borrow for that next Taco Tuesday.

While it remains to be seen which menu item will pull in the most purchases, each option will be available throughout the Lucas Oil Stadium concourses. It will be interesting to see if the most popular menu item concurs with the final game score.
