2022 Girl Scout Cookie Season offers a new cookie adventure
From that craving of Thin Mints to a love of Samoas, the 2022 Girl Scout Cookie Season might be the sweet news that everyone needs this year. While those cookies might be the tasty treat, the annual Girl Scout event is more than just satisfying a craving or stocking the pantry with cookies. It is an endeavor that seeks to build business acumen for everyone involved. And, this year’s innovations look to put a little more adventure into the mix.
Although there are favorite cookies that will always be part of the annual offering, every year a new cookie looks to capture fans’ attention. This year, the Adventurefuls are a departure from the traditional cookie offerings.
Described as “indulgent brownie-inspired cookie with caramel-flavored crème and a hint of sea salt,” this offering seems to show that the 2022 Girl Scout Cookie Season is looking forward and evolving. From the touch of sea salt to bring out the extra sweetness to the combination of caramel and brownie for richness, these cookies could come from a favorite bakery.
For many people a box of Girl Scout cookies was often an impulse buy. Who hasn’t purchased a box or three from the business women sitting outside of the grocery store. But, times are changing and so are the Girl Scouts.
This year, the Girl Scouts have partnered with DoorDash for “cookies on demand.” Consumers can “purchase cookies for on-demand delivery to their doors or for pickup at a nearby booth.” Now, if DoorDash could offer some milk or coffee with that delivery, it would be a bonus.
Shanna Preveì, DoorDash’s VP of strategic partnerships and business development said, “As a Girl Scouts cookie lover myself, I am so excited to welcome Girl Scouts of the USA to our platform, providing a fast and convenient option for customers to access beloved Girl Scout Cookies on-demand, while empowering Girl Scouts to meaningfully grow their cookie businesses.”
This partnership is smart for both brands. While it offers a safe, efficient way for the Girl Scouts to give consumers the cookies that they crave, it is a way to increase DoorDash’s reach. Although some people might not order dinner in, they might cave to that cookie craving.
Looking ahead, it might be smart for other organizations to partner with brands like DoorDash to expand their reach. Given that shopping habits are changing, that impulse buy when people leave the brick-and-mortar store might be disappearing. Finding a way to keep popular food brands relevant is key.
For now, make some space in the freezer for another box of Thin Mints. 2022 Girl Scout Cookie Season is here and it will be over before you realize it.
