Frito-Lay paves the Road to the Super Bowl with a bus full of snacks
For many people, the annual final game of the NFL Season is not just about which team raises the Lombardi Trophy. The football food might not make a difference in the final score, but it does make the watching event more memorable. As seen in the new Frito-Lay Road to the Super Bowl spot, food brings fans and rivals together. Ready to get on that bus to snacktown?
Frito-Lay is always at the center of every Super Bowl celebration. Across its various brands, the refrigerator is stocked with beverages and the snack bowl is overflowing with tasty treats.
From the home cook who just wants to keep it simple to the aspiring chef who looks at a snack bag with infinite culinary curiosity, the reality is that food and sports are forever entwined.
In the newest Super Bowl ad from Frito-Lay, some of favorite former NFL Super Bowl champion players get on the bus. Luckily, everyone remembered to bring their favorite food and beverages.
Of course, the collection of NFL greats is a trademark of many Super Bowl commercials. This Road Trip is no different. Still, wouldn’t you like to see a few of the outtakes from this filming session. There must be some witty banter left on the cutting room floor.
At the heart of the commercial there are two things. First, the whole idea is to make people smile. While seeing Terry Bradshaw strapped to the top of a bus might be ridiculous, it produces a laugh. And, for anyone who didn’t win Terry’s money this season, maybe they secretly appreciate that moment.
Additionally, many people can appreciate how snacks and a road trip go hand in hand. Although most people are not taking a big yellow bus on that next family vacation, the blend of childhood memories, the current road trip trend and the need for plenty of snacks (and stops) along the way is relatable. It gets people talking.
Who hasn’t debated with fellow road trippers which is the best snack or beverage? More importantly, hasn’t had to tell someone not to keep their Cheetle covered fingers off the seat. There are napkins for that situation.
Like any good Super Bowl commercial, the situation needs to be relatable. Everyone wants to laugh, have fun and smile. Even if the final game score does not reflect a win for your team, it is about the time spent together making memories that matters.
What Frito-Lay snacks will you be serving at your Super Bowl party? What snacks would you bring on the bus to snacktown?
