Spring Baking Championship Season 8 episode 2: Let the good times roll
After an eventful first episode that introduced the new bakers, Spring Baking Championship Season 8 episode 2 is taking a trip to the Big Easy. Which baker will be king of the kitchen and who will be rolling out the door?
According to Food Network, Spring Baking Championship Season 8 episode 2, Molly’s Mardi Gras, features the following:
"Host Molly Yeh brings a taste of New Orleans to the farm with challenges inspired by Mardi Gras. The party starts as the competing bakers put their own spin on the classic king cake. Then, judges Kardea Brown, Nancy Fuller and Duff Goldman ask them to step up their game with a fantastic Mardi Gras parade float."
Of course, a Mardi Gras celebration is not complete without a King Cake. While it is a simple dessert, it is always tasty. That sugary goodness is perfect with that café au lait.
It will be interesting to see how the bakers make that King Cake a little unique. Although it is a classic dessert, the reality is that these bakers need to stand out in the crowd. Even though the competition is early, everyone needs to avoid the dreaded middle ground.
For the main challenge, a Mardi Gras parade float is a tall task. If there is a baker who can create an elaborate design, they might speed to the top of the group.
While taste and design must be in tandem, it seems that this challenge has a big design element. For those bakers who can deliver a stunning visual could have an advantage. There will be only so many challenges where the judges can eat with their eyes closed.
Given that it is still early in the competition, it is hard to determine potential front runners. Even though some people shined in the first episode, it is not a guarantee that they will do well. Falling from the top can happen.
