Top Chef Season 19 episode 6: Serving up Texas her-story
While the chefs have tackled look-alike dishes and mastered Texas BBQ, Top Chef Season 19 episode 6 celebrates the sweet and savory. From a special Talenti inspired dessert to Texas her-story, this episode is full of sentiments.
According to Bravo, Top Chef Season 19 episode 6, Texas Trailblazer-hers features the following:
"The chefs must create salty-sweet desserts that will inspire a new flavor of Talenti gelato; in the Elimination Challenge, the chefs must draw inspiration from the lives of some of Texas’ most influential women."
In a previous season, Top Chef featured a Talenti gelato challenge. While this particular Quickfire Challenge is about the Talenti Pairings, which plays into that sweet and savory component, it will be interesting to see how the chefs tackle the challenge.
Usually, the chefs would prefer to avoid dessert challenges. It isn’t that chefs don’t have a go-to, easy dessert in their repertoire. But, pastry chefs and savory chefs do not often overlap. The chef who can capture that perfect balanced flavor could score a big prize. Who wouldn’t want to influence a new Talenti gelato flavor?
For the Elimination Challenge, it could be a struggle for the chefs. Sometimes challenges that have a deep personal connection can cause mis-steps. Sometimes the chefs over think these meaningful challenges.
Although there have been ups and downs in the first couple of episodes, some chefs are emerging as favorites. It is clear that some chefs seem to have the answer key to what the judges want.
But, at the beginning of this episode, a chef returns from Last Chance Kitchen. Although it is nice to give the chefs a chance at redemption, no one would want to lose their spot to a returning chef. Then again, many chefs who are pushed against the wall have learned to find a way to win.
