While some people crave traditional food and recipes on holidays, sometimes it is good to add a little excitement to the table. Although candied hams might be a family favorite, these recipes might not be in grandma’s card box. Ready to add a little extra sweetness to the celebration?

Food creativity can come in all forms. From food creators to people who just want to experiment, there is always something new coming out of the kitchen.

Reynolds Wrap is no stranger to pushing the recipe conversation in a new direction. Who hasn’t looked at those Thanksgiving turkey recipes and wondered if that hot dog themed flavor is worth a try. This Easter, the brand is looking to bring something different to the table, yet again.

Ready to try some candied hams?

This year, Reynolds Wrap has shared three candied hams recipes that will have everyone doing a second take. Since no one wants that Easter candy around on the 4th of July, these ideas use some favorite candies as the flavor inspiration for a new version of that classic holiday ham.

As Lisa Giardina, senior brand manager, Reynolds Consumer Products said, “Easter brunch is an occasion that calls for both savory and sweet, and we wanted to bring those two tastes together for those who just can’t choose one. Not only will these Candied Hams make quite the spring-y statement on the table, they’re also a great chance for family and friends to join in on the fun and tasty prep.”

The three recipes are Marshmallow Ham, Sour Candy Ham and Jelly Bean Ham. Before anyone runs screaming, think about the flavors before doubting these recipe ideas.

The Marshmallow Ham is coated in marshmallow fluff. Whether or not there are some Peeps surrounding the ham is a personal choice, but this idea isn’t too far out there. Other recipes use marshmallow as a topping or crust. Think of that sweet potato casserole. As long as the sugar doesn’t burn, it could add that sweetness some people crave.

Another option is the Sour Candy Ham. While the Reynolds Wrap version is a vibrant rainbow, the concept can be customized a little. The concept of a citrus glaze on a ham can really work. If you like ham and pineapple, this option might be one to try.

Lastly, the Jelly Bean Ham could be an easy way to use up those Easter basket treats. Before people think that the jelly bean stud around the ham, the recipe calls for reduced jelly beans (I.e. making a glaze). Granted, some people might want to decorate with some jelly beans, too. Again, it is an idea of a sugar glaze on a ham, just using a different ingredient.

These recipes and many more can be found on the Reynolds website. This year, think a little outside of the box, or Easter basket. It might be the new holiday tradition that gets people excited to gather for next year, too.
