While there might be a food holiday every day of the week, World Whisky Day is the perfect excuse to open a bottle of a favorite whisky or discover a new flavor on the shelf. Given that summer is around the corner, why not let summer flavors inspire the creative cocktail in the glass. Ready to toast to a fine spirit?

During the winter months, some people might be drawn to a whisky, that smooth, robust flavor is perfect for sipping by the fire or lounging on the couch. But as the weather warms, the whisky doesn’t need to go back on the shelf. It can easily transform into bright, flavorful offerings.

On World Whisky Day, the celebration is the perfect excuse to shake up a whisky cocktail. While a classic Old Fashioned or even a neat pour is always a lovely choice, it isn’t the only one. Luckily a few whisky brands and mixologists are offering a creative cocktail for the occasion.

Sour Creamsicle

The classic creamsicle dessert is often a summertime staple. Who doesn’t remember that backyard barbecue that ended with that sweet treat?

Jameson Orange, the newest flavor from Jameson, brings the brightness of orange with the classic whisky that people have come to love. That punch of citrus is quite welcoming on a warm day.

This cocktail, a Sour Creamsicle, borrows that nostalgic flavor of the summer dessert and evolves it. From an aperitif to a sipping dessert, it could be that cocktail that people can’t get enough of.
