After several chefs earned their apron and their chance at redemption, MasterChef Season 12 episode 2 has more battles slated for action. If these chefs look a little different, there is good reason. But, does a few more years bring culinary wisdom?

According to FOX, MasterChef Season 12 episode 2, “Back to Win – Audition Battles (Part 2)” features the following:

"The audition battles continue this week on the most competitive season of MASTERCHEF yet. For those who fell short in past seasons, these auditions are a chance to fulfill their culinary dreams. This week, three chefs who competed on MASTERCHEF JUNIOR enter the kitchen for the first time as adults in the all-new “Back to Win – Audition Battles (Part 2)” episode of MASTERCHEF airing Wednesday, June 1 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

While many people marvel at the culinary knowledge and talent on MasterChef Junior, it will be interesting to see how the younger chefs have continued to pursue their culinary dreams. Even though younger chefs may seem fearless, they might be more cautious the second time around.

Still, age is not a factor in the judges’ deliberations. These chefs need to present the best possible dish. Lack of execution, muddled flavors and poor plating will not be excused.

Looking back at the first MasterChef Season 12 episode, it is clear that these chefs have taken their first MasterChef experience and run with it. Leaving behind former jobs for a culinary career, these chefs might even deserve a spot on the Hell’s Kitchen line. It is a far cry from a simple home cook who entices with a pretty social media picture. These chefs have earned a chef coat with their culinary talents.

The only downside to the head to head battle is that someone who is talented and potential a fan favorite could leave before the competition begins. When two powerhouses battle for an apron, it shows how difficult the competition is. If the audition has set high standards, just wait for the first Mystery Box challenge.

Be sure to watch MasterChef Season 12 episode 2 Wednesday, June 1 at 8 p.m. Will your fan favorite chef earn that coveted apron?
