Wendy’s sweetens its summer menu with strawberries
While many people ran to get that first taste of the Strawberry Frosty, the Wendy’s summer menu is all about fresh, bright and sweet. Just like the local farm stand is overflowing with freshly picked strawberries, that juicy fruit is taking over Wendy’s menu. While the brand always focuses on fast food done right, it might have a new title for the summer, the Strawberry Queen.
Returning this summer is the seasonal Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad. Wendy’s appreciates that salads need to be part of a quick service restaurant menu. Given that each salad is made to order, guests know that the flavors will capture that peak of freshness.
As John Li, Vice President of Culinary Innovation for The Wendy’s Company described this salad as a “flavor explosion in every bite.” Li said, “As the only hamburger QSR (quick service restaurant) to offer craft salads, we know a thing or two about what fans look for in a salad, and the Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad delivers on our promise for fresh, real and flavorful salads.”
Having launched last year, the Seasonal Strawberry Chicken Salad combines mixed greens with grilled chicken, Italian cheese blend, candied almonds, the iconic Wendy’s bacon and sliced strawberries. Paired with a champagne vinaigrette dressing, it captures that idea of a craft salad. One bite can have all the flavors and textures. It is perfectly satisfying on a warm summer day.
Since Wendy’s always puts its customers first, the Seasonal Strawberry Chicken Salad can be customized. For example, why not add some spicy chicken or crispy chicken to the mix. That slight change can keep the flavor combinations fresh.
Although many people may want to have that Strawberry Frosty as a sweet treat after the salad, don’t forget to enjoy a beverage, too. Joining the menu is the new Sunburst Melon Lemonade.
