Steeped in history and tradition, the designation of a Michelin Star or a Bib Gourmand denotes a chef and the restaurant in elite company. While few Three-Star restaurants have earned that distinction, the inclusion withing the culinary guide is a feat itself. Although the awards for chefs and restaurants continue to grow, many food connoisseurs look to Michelin as the authority on exquisite cuisine. With the just announced Michelin Guide Florida, there is a reason for food lovers to travel to the Sunshine State.

Traveling to Florida can conjure various images. While the stunning colors of Miami beaches promise fun in the sun, the nightlife brings a vibrancy to the experience. Orlando entices with magical moments from iconic characters and thrill rides that have people squealing in delight. Although all those experiences are exciting, the recently released Michelin Guide Florida proves that the beautiful, flavorful food on the restaurant table will have even more people traveling south.

When it was announced that Michelin was coming to Florida, some people speculated which chefs and their restaurants would earn the coveted praise. Although some restaurants are outposts of other successful locations elsewhere, the reality is that the celebrated locales show a diversity across the state.

During an event held at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Michelin bestowed a total of 15 stars to restaurants in Miami and Orlando. While Tampa did have Bib Gourmand distinctions, the city’s restaurants did not receive any star designations.

In reality, there is a wide breadth of offerings on the 2022 list. The 15 stars represented a total of nine different types of cuisines.

Only one restaurant received a two-star award. L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, of the Bastion Collection earned it and is considered by many as worthy of that “detour” consideration.

The Michelin Guide Florida 2022 One Star restaurants are:

  • Ariete – one star (Miami)
  • Boia De – one star (Miami)
  • Capa – one star (Orlando)
  • Cote Miami – one star (Miami)
  • The Den at Sushi Azabu Miami – one star (Miami)
  • Elcielo Miami – one star (Miami)
  • Hiden – one star (Miami)
  • Kadence – one star (Orlando)
  • Knife & Spoon – one star (Orlando)
  • Le Jardinier, of the Bastion Collection – one star (Miami)
  • Los Félix – one star (Miami)
  • Soseki – one star (Orlando)
  • Stubborn Seed – one star (Miami)
  • The Surf Club Restaurant – one star (Miami)

As people are packing their bags for the next great adventure, this list can add the flavor to the experience. Now a visit to Florida isn’t limited to a nosh in the shadows of a castle or a sip of sweetness that appears with a wave of a wand. Exceptional, chef-driven dining experiences that celebrate the bounty of impeccable ingredients are waiting to be enjoyed. Now, the only obstacle is scoring a reservation.
