While one summertime tradition might be about peanuts and another sweet snack, the new Planters Sweet and Spicy Dry Roasted Peanuts bring a new food term to the conversation. Ready to get a little swicy during snack time?
The snack aisle has become far less bland and boring. Although some people love that extreme heat, others prefer a combination of flavors. When a snack can leave a person wanting another handful, the flavor is definitely a winner. While it might not be in the dictionary, swicy has some flavor swagger for food lovers.
With the new Planters Sweet and Spicy Dry Roasted Peanuts, the combination of heat and sweet brings smiles all around. This new flavor will earn a prime spot on that snack shelf.
According to Robbie Koons, PLANTERS brand manager, Planters wanted to offer a “new and distinct eating experience.” Describing the flavor, Koons said, “At first, your taste buds are hit with sweet flavors of honey and sugar, and then the spice kicks in making you want to start the experience all over again.”
The spice comes from dried red chili peppers. Although bold, the heat is not overly extreme. It finishes with the warmth which leads snackers back to another handful to enjoy that initial sweetness. To say that these peanuts are quite tempting is an understatement.
Since there is a hint of seasoned salt, that note is slightly heightened by the honey. When combined with the heat, it makes it hard to stop at just a handful.
While the new Planters Sweet and Spicy Dry Roasted Peanuts are quite tasty on their own, some people might want to mix the newest flavor with a traditional dry roasted peanut. That juxtaposition in the bowl is exciting. Plus, for people who are spice adverse, the combination is an easy introduction into “swicy” way of life.
As the new flavor innovation since joining Hormel Foods in 2021, it has food lovers wondering if more flavor innovations could be coming to the snack aisle. Sweet, savory and swicy seems to be a winning snack combination.
