While the convention center will be filled with fans across a variety of pop culture genres, the excitement often can make all those people hungry. For the first time, Sodexo Live will bring a new mobile vending robot to the Comic Con San Diego convention floor. Instead of running to the border, the burritos will come to everyone.

Anyone who has attended a convention understands that the food line can be a little cumbersome. While the hospitality partners offer tasty bites and try to be as efficient as possible, the reality is that there is a large number of guests to feed in a small period of time. Finding ways to streamline the process makes attendees happy and is a win for the hospitality partner.

Sodexo Live continues to push the culinary conversation forward in the convention space. As seen in other events, the rise of the robot is more than just curiosity. It is an effective way to serve more guests without compromising on the food.

At this year’s Comic Con San Diego, Sodexo Live is partnering with Tortoise to offer the first ever mobile vending robot. Roaming around the convention center floor, it will offer California burritos and 20-oz bottles of Gatorade. Developed by Sodexo Live Chef Sufi Karaien, the California Burritos will feature “seasoned carne Asada, French fries, Pico de Gallo, sour cream and melted cheese in a flour tortilla.”

While some people might not expect the mobile vending robot, the bold design should make it stand out in the crowd. Overall, the idea is to make grabbing a bite quick and efficient. It will be interesting to see guests’ response to the new roaming robot.

A fan favorite returns to Comic Con San Diego

Although the mobile vending robot will have many people talking, the fan favorite food is returning to Comic Con San Diego. After being on hiatus for a couple of years, the craving for the convention’s signature chocolate bars is high.

Available in person, the special limited-edition chocolate bars have just 1,000 of each four bars available for purchase each day. Yes, there are only a total of 4,000 chocolate bars over the four-day convention and they are usually a coveted item.

The four flavors are Misunderstood Villain, Recess, Surprise S’mores and Pixie’s Garden. While the names are curious, it is the flavors that really give that big pow punch.

The Misunderstood Villain is a spicy dark chocolate. With Tajin, smoke paprika and a touch of local orange, it is a chocolate treat that will leave people pondering for a long time.

The Recess bar brings back flavors from your youth. With Froot Loops, white chocolate and fruits, the flavors are as vibrant as the color.

The Sunrise S’mores is a classic treat. With Golden Grahams and Lucky Charms marshmallows, it is the cereal mash-up that could change your next campfire treat.

Lastly, Pixie’s Garden is a floral delight. With hibiscus flower and elderflower ganache, many people will want to frolic in this white chocolate delight.
