While the iconic ice cream shop might be known for 31 flavors, but the flavor of the month brings an extra scoop of an excitement. Since October brings a little spooky to the bowl, the Baskin-Robbins new flavor is a touch surprising. Be prepared for the spicy and sweet in each spoonful.

Ice cream flavors are evolving. While vanilla might be a classic and chocolate satisfies that sweet tooth, the simple flavors are just one option in the freezer. More people are ready to scoop bold combinations.

For October, Baskin-Robbins new flavor might be a little spooky for ice cream traditionalist. The Spicy ‘n Spooky might be the most innovative flavor from the company. Although the appearance seems unassuming, the first bite will leave a lasting impression.

Jeanne Bolger, Director of Research and Development for Baskin-Robbins said, “As ice cream experts with more than 1,400 flavors in our library, we continue to find ways to push boundaries and incorporate exciting new ingredients into our scoops like real Ghost Pepper and our darkest chocolate yet. We’re excited to evoke the spookiness that comes with the season, using flavor elements we’ve never offered before in an ice cream, and we’re looking forward to guests’ reactions for those who are brave enough to try Spicy ‘n Spooky.”

Spicy ‘n Spooky combined White Chocolate Ghost Pepper flavored ice cream with dark chocolate ice cream and spicy blood orange flakes. Although some people might be unsure about the ghost pepper ingredient, the heat is not overbearing.

At first, the ice cream hits as sweet. Then, the brightness of the orange puts the zestiness front and center. Then, the spicy hits and lingers. It invites another bite to offer a relief to the heat. Bite and after bite, the ice cream becomes irresistible and the pint will be gone quickly.

Thinking of this Baskin-Robbins new flavor, it proves that the brand is willing to embrace food trends. While spicy might be a description for snacks and various other recipes, it can easily be added to desserts. Why can’t ice cream have that burst of heat?

The Baskin-Robbins Spicy ‘n Spooky is available starting on October 1. Check with local stores for availability.

Do not let spice frighten you away from the freezer case. A little heat can be the flavor that makes people ask for another scoop.
