After announcing several new Lifestyle Bowls joining the restaurant menu, the Chipotle Rewards program is getting a big upgrade for the new year. With the guarantee of free food for members, Freepotle might be a tasty word for everyone to enjoy.

Restaurant reward programs have become big business. While that ordering app might bring convenience, it is more than just jumping to the head of the line. Many brands use the program to offer rewards for additional purchases or discounts for particular orders. Whether having that icon front and center on a smart device leads to more orders or the promise of savings entices that click, the apps and reward programs have become a mainstay in the restaurant business.

As consumers are learning, not all rewards programs are created equal. In recent months, some companies have revised their programs. Although the concept of “free lunch” might be a dream, accumulating those points for free food is getting harder. In some cases, it might not be worth all the spending to get that “free food” item.

With Freepotle, the Chipotle Rewards program is looking to change the approach to its concept. With guaranteed free food drops for its members throughout the year, it seems to capture that old school notion, membership has its privileges.

According to Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer, “In an environment full of pricey subscription programs, we’re introducing a pass to our real food that is free to join and will provide more value to our community than ever before. ‘Freepotle’ makes Chipotle Rewards a must-join program for all Chipotle fans in 2023.”

Current reward members will be automatically enrolled in the new program. Everyone else can sign-up for free by March 6. The first free food drop is a side or topping of guac, from January 9 to January 15. That reward is offered with a purchase of $5 or more. It can be redeemed once.

Throughout the year, Chipotle will “drop” 10 free food items. When and what those items will be have not been announced. For more information on the rewards program can be found online.
