While there are many combo meals on the menu, there has been one option missing on the menu, pizza and chicken wings.

As the end of the NFL football season approaches, a common food order is pizza and chicken wings. The two food options are easy to share in a big crowd. Whether satisfying the munchies during the nail-biting portion of the game or curbing a hunger during halftime, the classic football food is always a winner.

But, Taco Bell has not been part of that game day spread. Although there is always room for a 10 pack of tacos, it is not the same. This year, the Taco Bell Ultimate GameDay Box fills that gap.

In a recent company announcement, the new Taco Bell Ultimate GameDay Box contains “one Mexican Pizza, four Crunchy Tacos and eight Crispy Chicken Wings alongside two Spicy Ranch dipping sauces.” Available to order in restaurant or via the Taco Bell app for order ahead or delivery, the game day box is just $22. It will be available January 26 through February 9, 2023, or while supplies last.

As Sean Tresvant, Global Chief Brand Officer said, “The Ultimate GameDay Box allows Taco Bell to compete in a space that’s been traditionally reserved for pizza and wings, in a way only this brand can. A shareable meal that delivers the Mexican Pizza, which over-exceeded our forecasts last year due to fan demand, Crunchy Tacos, which are one of our top-selling items, and the ultra-craveable Crispy Chicken Wings, which drove massive headlines and demand last year, makes this an easy choice for those debating on how to feed their friends and family, no matter the occasion.”

The Taco Bell Ultimate GameDay Box brings back Taco Bell crispy chicken wings

After a limited time test run, the Taco Bell crispy chicken wings are back. The menu item first appeared in August 2020 and was available briefly in January 2022.

For those people who did not get a taste, the chicken wings are coated in Mexican Queso seasoning and paired with dipping sauce. They are crispy, crunchy, and slightly cheesy. Although not super spicy, the menu item fits into the overall flavor profiles on the quick service restaurant menu.

It is interesting that Taco Bell is choosing to bring back its crispy chicken wings. Chicken continues to be a hot seller for many quick service restaurants. Bringing this menu item back during the end of football season lends the brand to be that one stop order for a group. No one wants to go from place to place or group orders. By offering a wider breath of food options, Taco Bell reaches a larger audience.
