While World Nutella Day might be February 5, Claire Holt and her family celebrate the iconic hazelnut spread more than one day a year. A longtime fan of the Ferrero brand, Holt appreciates that there is a touch of balance with that spreadable indulgence.

Recently, Claire Holt spoke to FoodSided regarding her Nutella partnership, some upcoming Valentine’s Day celebrations and shared a family favorite recipe. While the popular actress, business woman, and entertainer has a lot on her plate, family time is always a priority, especially when holidays are on the calendar.

When asked about when her Valentine’s Day celebrations start, morning or evening, Holt said, “If my kids eat sugar they go wild, so that’s usually a daytime treat (bedtime is scary otherwise!). I save mine until the evening so I can enjoy them with my husband without hiding in the pantry. Nutella dipped strawberries are our top pick.”

The idea of strawberries and Nutella is an easy one for anyone to serve on Valentine’s Day or any other occasion. While the sweet hazelnut spread feels decadent, everyone feels good about having another serving of fruit. It is all about that life balance.

Since many people have a jar or two of Nutella in the pantry, World Nutella Day is often a great time to experiment with different recipes. Whether it is savory oats recipes that have become quite popular or just a new twist on an old favorite, there are plenty of ways to reimagine that iconic Nutella.

Holt shared, “I got to try a bunch of different Nutella recipes when I visited Nutella cafe in Chicago. They were all 10/10. I’ve never tried in a savory dish though! I think that’ll be my next experiment.”

Although a savory recipe might not be in the cards right now, Holt has a favorite recipe that uses Nutella. She said, “We love almond flour pancakes topped with Nutella. We perfected the recipe last World Nutella Day and it’s never let us down. Here it is:”

Almond Flour Pancakes with Nutella

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup almond flour
  • 1 teaspon baking power
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon of butter (for the pan)

Method:

  • Mix dry ingredients in a bowl
  • In separate bowl, combine wet ingredients
  • Mix wet and dry ingredients together
  • Heat pan to medium temp, add butter
  • Cook pancakes 1-2 per side
  • Top with Nutella and enjoy!

This simple pancake recipe is one that the whole family will enjoy. Whether those pancakes are topped with just Nutella, some fruit, or even a dollop of whipped cream, it is a meal that everyone will enjoy.

Although that classic jar is not going anywhere, Nutella just added two new items to its line. The B-Ready and Nutella Biscuits to its line. Both items are have the sweet flavor but offer a new texture for optimum enjoyment.

Holt shared her choice for a favorite. She said, “I recently tried Nutella B-ready and I’m obsessed. A crispy wafer filled with Nutella is the perfect bite. I wish I’d served them at my wedding.”

From World Nutella Day to any day, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the iconic Nutella. Are you ready to open a jar of flavorful possibilities?
