Here’s where you can get a taste of the new Sonic Teriyaki Burger

While some people are always thirsty for those half-price slushies or love that under $2 Crave menu, a new specialty burger was just announced. While the new Sonic Teriyaki Burger sounds like a menu item that many people will want to try, there is only one place where guests can get that first bite.

According to Sonic Drive-In, the brand now has locations across 47 states. As it prepares to open its first location in Maui, Hawaii, the brand is celebrating in a big way. Tanishia Beacham, Chief Operating Officer at Sonic shared, “We’ve had our mind set on bringing the SONIC brand to Hawai’i for a number of years, and we’re so proud of this amazing new location.”

The new Maui location features design elements that celebrate the local culture. As the first Hawaiian location, it combines patio seating, drive-thru, and the brand’s iconic drive-in stalls.

While the February 20 opening will have much fanfare, it is the specialty menu item that has many people talking. Created for the Hawaii location, the new Sonic Teriyaki Burger captures the flavors of the area.

Specifically, the Sonic Teriyaki Burger features “100 percent pure beef patty topped with teriyaki sauce, American cheese, teriyaki aioli, onions, lettuce and tomatoes, served on a toasted bakery bun.” Although this menu item is only available in Hawaii, it would make a great addition to the Sonic Drive-In menu nationwide. It will be the teriyaki aioli that will make this burger a standout. But, it is interesting that the burger is on a bakery bun, not a Hawaiian roll.

Given that Sonic offers made-to-offer and customizable menu items, it will be curious to see if other locations could create a special menu item unique to their restaurant. Even though there are secret menu items across the quick service restaurant space, sometimes a unique menu item can cause super fans to make a special visit.

For now, Hawaii is getting its first taste of Sonic. For some people who are in Maui, they can get a taste of the new Sonic Teriyaki Burger.
