Krispy Kreme Reese’s Remix doughnuts are the ultimate salty and sweet treat
After bringing the love at Valentine’s Day and impressing with its Biscoff cookie inspired doughnuts, Krispy Kreme is raising its game yet again. While there are certain flavor combinations that are always craveable, a creative spin on that taste will always have people talking. The new Krispy Kreme Reese’s Remix doughnuts are a salty sweet combination that are a match made in flavor heaven.
Over the years, Krispy Kreme has put Reese’s flavors on its doughnuts and fans have ranked them as some of their favorite offerings. While some doughnuts were more outrageous than others, that combination of sweet and a touch salty makes people go back for another bite.
The newest special, limited edition doughnuts will have people running to stand in front of that red light. As Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme said, “Salty, Sweet, Reese’s and Krispy Kreme can now all be experienced in one incredible doughnut collection. These flavors bring out the best in each other, just like our partnership with Reese’s has over the years.”
How many flavors of Krispy Kreme Reese’s Remix doughnuts are there?
Starting on February 20, the Krispy Kreme Reese’s Remix doughnuts are available in three flavors, Reese’s Salty Sweet Crunch Doughnut, Reese’s Salty Sweet Crisp Doughnut, and Reese’s Outrageous Doughnut. Each one is inspired by certain Reese’s candies, including Reese’s Big Cup Stuffed with Potato Chips, Reese’s Big Cup Stuffed with Pretzels and Reese’s OUTRAGEOUS. Looking at these candies, it is more than just the salty sweet combination. There is also a textural component.
The Reese’s Salty Sweet Crunch Doughnut is filled with Reese’s peanut butter Kreme, topped with Reese’s peanut butter icing, then drizzled with Hershey’s milk chocolate icing and covered with sea salt praline pretzels. While the peanut butter components have a hint of sweet and salty, it is the sea salt praline pretzels that set this doughnut apart. As any baker appreciates, that salt makes the sweetness pop.
The Reese’s Salty Sweet Crisp Doughnut takes inspiration from Reese’s Big Cup Stuffed with Potato Chips. The Original Glazed doughnut is Hershey’s milk chocolate icing, Then, potato sticks are added with a drizzle of milk chocolate and Reese’s peanut butter icing. It is topped off with a touch of Reese’s peanut butter Kreme filling.
The use of the potato sticks is unique. While pretzels have long been incorporated into desserts, the potato sticks should add not just texture but also flavor. That touch of savory with all the sweet could have this doughnut being the top choice.
Lastly, the Reese’s Outrageous Doughnut tops the Original Glazed with Hershey’s milk chocolate icing, mini Reese’s Piece. Then, the whole doughnut is drizzled with Reese’s peanut butter sauce and salted caramel icing. This doughnut reads more like a dessert than just a doughnut. Just think about this doughnut flavor with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Krispy Kreme’s Reese’s Salty Sweet Dozen is available for a limited time. It can be purchased in stores or for delivery via the Krispy Kreme app.
