Old Forester often uses its limited expressions to celebrate important events in the brand’s history. From the historic fires to celebrating its founders, these special offerings are often highly coveted bottles. With the Old Forester Warehouse H, the bourbon offering shows that warmth is more than a feeling accompanied with that sip.

The newest limited offering expression in the 117 Series, Old Forester Warehouse H seeks to bring awareness to its post-WWII history. At that time, the distillery built a brickhouse that helped to heat cycle the barrels during sub-60 winter temperatures. During the process, the first floor reached higher temperatures, which impacted the bourbon resting inside.

The Warehouse H release includes barrels from the historic brickhouse. According to the brand, the flavor of subtle caramel offers a sweetness while there is a brightness from a citrus lemon meringue pie. The custard notes linger and invite another sip.

While many people will want to add Old Forester Warehouse H to their collection, another opportunity has bourbon lovers making a trip to Whiskey Row. The Old Forester Speakeasy celebrates the robust history of one of the most celebrated bourbon brands.

Located next to the Old Forester Distillery, the one-bedroom apartment could be booked from March 1 through April 2, 2023. While the décor is impressive, it is the immersive bourbon experience that had people running to book a date.

As Master Taster Melissa Rift said, “people will receive an insider look at the world’s first bottled bourbon – and this experience will take guests through Old Forester’s unique history. And the best part – it’s all for charity.”

While it is a bourbon lover’s dream come true, the charitable aspect makes this event even more special. Proceeds from the Old Forester Speakeasy bookings will benefit Center for Women and Families, “a non-profit that helps women and families in Louisville in crisis by providing housing, support and safety from domestic violence.” This issue has become a crisis in the Louisville area.

Looking at the Speakeasy offering, it is for bourbon lovers who want special access and a deeper dive into the bourbon world. By booking the apartment, guests receive the following: “a personalized meet and greet with Master Taster Melissa Rift, a tour and tasting at Old Forester Distillery, and the rare opportunity to purchase limited-edition whiskies including the 117 entire Series, President’s Choice 2023, and Birthday Bourbon 2022.”

For some bourbon collectors, the ability to purchase the limited-edition whiskies could be a reason to book a stay. Given that special releases have become big business in the bourbon world, that access might be a huge selling point for some people.

Given that food and travel are becoming more intertwined, this offering could become a bigger theme in the liquor world. While cruise ships have offered these types of special tastings and/or events, the distilleries should be taking advantage of the idea. Plus, when it benefits a charity, it is a win for everyone. Raising funds and awareness for worthy causes is always worth raising a glass.
