New Hershey’s Plant Based candy fills a gap in the brand’s offerings
Sometimes a sweet treat can bring a smile to an otherwise uneventful day. Although some people are never sorry for enjoying that Reese’s peanut butter cup, certain lifestyle choices may not fit with that candy choice. As more people embrace plant-based food options, candy brands are expanding their classic lines to include that demographic. The new Hershey’s Plant Based candy gives more people an opportunity to enjoy that taste of sweetness.
Over the years, Hershey’s has expanded its various product lines to include a broader audience. From organic options to dark chocolate, the candy shelf has many options beyond the seasonal shapes and fun promotions.
With a great focus on plant-based food choices, candy brands need to embrace that market share. These choices appeal to both the consumer who follows that lifestyle to the letter and others who pick and choose their opportunity. Again, giving people options ensures that their preferred candy brand is always the one that they choose.
According to Teal Liu, Brand Manager of Better For You, The Hershey Company, “We are excited to introduce these delicious, plant-based options. Our purpose is to create more moments of goodness for consumers. Those moments are now more accessible for chocolate lovers looking for plant-based alternatives.”
The new Hershey’s Plant Based candy comes in two options, Hershey’s Plant Based Extra Creamy with Almonds and Sea Salt and Reese’s Plant Based Peanut Butter Cups. These two options not only appeal to the classic flavors, but also bring a little flavor excitement to the conversation.
The Reese’s Plant Based Peanut Butter Cups is a smart move. Given that Reese’s is always a popular candy choice, adding this segment captures a greater market share. Since Reese’s is the iconic peanut butter and chocolate candy, they need to have a plant-based option.
Second, the Hershey’s Plant Based Extra Creamy with Almonds and Sea Salt appeals to a sophisticated palate. That punch of salt highlights the sweetness of the chocolate. The almonds add a contrast in texture to the creamy chocolate. Even some non-plant based eaters will choose this candy based on the flavor profile.
The new Reese’s Plant Based Peanut Butter Cups are available now and the Hershey’s Plant Based Extra Creamy with Almonds and Sea Salt will be available in April. Check with retailers for availability and pricing.
