Subway and BAKED Lay’s Footlong Chip might start a new sub trend
Over the past year, Subway has revamped its menu in many ways. While some of the favorite subs have new names, one item was still missing from the many ordering options. Where was the crunch? With the Subway and BAKED Lay’s Footlong Chip, a new sub topping has been discovered.
In honor of National Potato Chip Day, Subway and BAKED Lay’s have collaborated on a Footlong potato chip. Available only on March 14, exclusively at one Subway restaurant in Frisco, Texas, this special 12-inch crisp spans the length of a traditional footlong. It is basically one long chip.
According to Scott Finlow, Chief Marketing Officer at PepsiCo Foodservice, “Surprising our fans with unexpected flavor combinations and unique culinary creations is what we do best. We’re grateful that our partners at Subway share our passion for creating meals that are as delicious as they are memorable.”
Thinking about this footlong potato chip, the idea is similar to a previous promotion for National Cookie Day. The larger than normal offering had many people running to get that sweet treat.
With this BAKED Lay’s Footlong Chip, the reality is this style of chip can be manipulated into the bigger size. Although some people might have liked a flavored option, that twist could come at a later time depending on the response.
More importantly, if people rave about this special National Potato Chip Day promotion, it would be interesting to see if this idea could actually become a feasible product. Adding chips to a Subway sub brings an extra texture. When contrasted with the traditional items, it would add to eating satisfaction. In a way, it is similar to the elevated burger offerings that sometimes add chips or other crunchy items on top.
For now, the Subway and BAKED Lay’s Footlong Chip is just a fun promotion. Anyone who wants to get that taste can head to 6700 Stonebrook Parkway, Suite 100 in Frisco, Texas on March 14, 2023, while supplies last. The chip is free.
And, for those people not in Frisco, why not add some Lay’s to that regular Subway order. It might be the flavor and textural boost that makes each bite even tastier.
