After impressing the judges with some of the game meat dishes in the previous episode, the cooks might be ready to raise their spirits in this episode’s challenge. But, the dreaded platform might be playing havoc once again. As seen in this exclusive clip from Next Level Chef Season 2 episode 6, the sauce is better on the plate than on the side.

According to FOX, Next Level Chef Season 2 episode 6, “Sugar and Tea and Rum” features the following:

"Competitors will need to use skill to cook an alcohol-based dish in the episode! When the platform drops, each will grab an alcohol and a protein and incorporate it among their dishes. One chef’s spirits will not be lifted and will be eliminated in the all-new “Sugar and Tea and Rum” episode of Next Level Chef airing Thursday, Mar. 16 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

Cooking with alcohol is not an easy task. While the big flame makes for a great show, it is essential to burn off that alcohol in the process. A boozy gravy can help some people make it through a family holiday dinner, but that saucy condiment will not get pass the judges.

All three judges, Gordon Ramsay, Richard Blais, and Nyesha Arrington know how to create robust recipes featuring alcohol as a flavor component. Expect the judges to scrutinize these dishes carefully.

At the same time, the cooks need to get creative with their alcohol and protein combinations. Even though the culinary competition has not reached the halfway point, it is time for the top contenders to stand out in the crowd. It is better to secure a spot in the next round than rely on the good fortune of their teammates.

While there is still a team aspect at the moment, each individual cook controls their own fate. As seen in this Next Level Chef Season 2 episode 6 exclusive clip provided to Foodsided, the missing a component on a dish could be another chef’s downfall.

Although the pressure is high in the food competition, the reality is that a missing component on a dish should have Chris worried. Given that he does not have an immunity pin, he could be up for elimination. Hoping for the good fortune of his team might be his saving grace.

Still, it is surprising that the cooks are making these mistakes at this point in the competition. The first round or two can expected. At this time, the execution should be on point.

Overall, many of the dishes in Next Level Chef Season 2 have been quite good. Both professional and social media chefs have found ways to impress the judges. To get praise from judges is not easy. Soon, the contenders will start to emerge from the group.
