Sometimes a perfect bite hits both spicy and sweet. While the heat brings the excitement, the sweet entices the next taste. With the new King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Sandwiches, guests get that flavor duality served on the iconic King’s Hawaiian roll. Joining those sandwiches are new Loaded Fries, which makes for meal that leaves everyone totally satisfied.

While Arby’s might say that it has the meats, the reality is that the culinary team has pushed flavor conversations forward. From the Diablo offerings that came with a spice warning to the brisket sandwiches that classic robust flavors, the food was a conscious choice to show that a quick service restaurant can focus on big flavor.

The new menu offerings look to build on bold flavors and add a textural element to the eating enjoyment. As Rita Patel, CMO of Arby’s said, “Arby’s launched the deliciously spicy Diablo Dare sandwiches and fries last year, and we wanted to build on that success with new menu items that offer a more complex taste by combining two contrasting yet complementing flavors. The interplay of sweet and spicy and soft and crunchy in our King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Sandwiches and Loaded Fries offers fans a harmony of flavors and textures in every bite, proving that opposites really do attract.”

With the new King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Sandwiches, there are two options King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Chicken Sandwich and King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Beef ‘n Brisket Sandwich. Each protein is topped with “cheddar cheese, sweet and spicy sauce, crispy onions, and sweet garlic & dill pickles.”

Looking at the ingredients, the sandwiches hit all the traditional taste profiles, sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and umami. From the unctuous cheese to the briny pickles, it is about getting that perfectly composed bite.

Although some people would choose based on chicken or beef preference, both options are equally as enticing. The Beef n’ Brisket combines the traditional, thinly sliced roast beef with the 13-hour smoked brisket. The two different beef flavors make for a very robust bite. Even though it is a handheld sandwich, it might require some care to take such a big bite.

In addition, the pickles and the beef with the sauce is a new take on a beef sandwich. While pickles and chicken are common, the acid note helps to cut through all the richness. Plus, it would be a little crunch to contrast the soft King’s Hawaiian bun.

While the chicken sandwich wars were all the rage for a while, this new menu offering is far from the typical chicken sandwich. By using the crispy chicken, the sauce has plenty of places to nestle in those crunchy crevices. It ensures that the bold flavor is in every bite. In addition, that crispiness adds a contrast to the soft bun. Multiple textures is always important to eating enjoyment.

The new King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Sandwiches are available now for a limited time. Menu prices may vary.

In addition, Arby’s is adding another new menu item, Loaded Fries. Topped with “warm cheddar cheese sauce, diced crispy chicken nuggets and chopped bacon,” the fries are then drizzled with the new sweet and spicy sauce. Although this menu item might be a side, it could also be a meal. Maybe the next version of loaded fries could have some beef on top.

The Loaded Fries are available now for a limited time. The suggested starting price of $5.49.

What will Arby’s launch next? Only time will tell, but it appears that the quick service restaurant keeps pushing the big bold flavors with every new food launch.
