While the old phrase that there is always room for Jell-O might be a nod to nostalgia, a flavor modernization can make that dessert feel like a whole new experience. Just in time for summer, Sparkling Jell-O, a collaboration between Jell-O and AHA Sparkling Water, brings a little effervescence to the eating enjoyment.

Making Jell-O is a simple task. One packet, add hot and cold water, let it cool. It might be one of the first food items that a kid helps to make.

While people can debate the best flavor, whether or not to add extra ingredients, or why does grandma adore that Jell-O mold on the holiday table, the reality is that Jell-O really has not changed over the years. Although those classic words of if it’s not broke, don’t fix it might linger in the back of the mind, the reality is sometimes a little change can make a favorite food seem all new.

Available for a limited time, Sparkling Jell-O is coming to select store shelves. The collaboration between Jell-O and AHA Sparkling water is just what it seems. Swap half of the flat water in a recipe for sparkling water.

According to Jell-O, 70% of customers who buy Jell-O buy sparkling water. While shoppers can purchase both separately, putting the two items in a single buy captures the consumers’ eye. It opens a flavor conversation but also it opens a bigger conversation on food collaborations.

The special Sparkling Jell-O offering is available in Zero Sugar Lemon, Zero Sugar Lime, Zero Sugar Strawberry, and AHA Sparkling Water flavors lime + watermelon, blueberry + pomegranate, and blackberry + lemon.

The AHA Sparkling Water is meant to bring a little extra flavor to the gelatin dessert. These flavor combinations are approachable. If the idea is to bring a little fun to the traditional dessert, it works.

While this option is pre-packaged for convenience, why not take this idea a step further. Consider making other flavor combinations with Jell-O and AHA Sparkling Water. Why not use pineapple passionfruit with a lemon or what about peach and honey with strawberry. It could be time to look in the pantry and have some fun with food.

The Sparkling Jell-O will be available at various retailers, including Walmart and Meijer, from May 11 through June 30. Check with stores for availability and pricing.
