While the classic mimosa might always be poured, these boozy brunch cocktails have a little more in the glass. Although some people can debate the appropriate amount of juice to sparkling wine combination, it really is about the balance of flavor. Ready to shake up something new in the glass?

Even though a mimosa can be simply just a few ingredients, adding a little extra to the glass can change the whole experience. Although no one is saying that the meal should only be beverages, sometimes that potent potable makes the conversation a little more lively.

For a bolder twist to a mimosa, consider this recipe from Cantera Negra. The Reposado Tequila combined with the blood orange juice is lovely. Just remember, the sparkling wine is the finishing touch to this cocktail.

Another twist on the mimosa can swap the sparkling wine for a beer. In this option from Gray Whale Gin, the botanicals from the gin combined with the Golden Road Mango Cart Ale brings a tropical, floral note with the sweetness from the juice.

Gray Whale Mimosa

  • 2oz Gray Whale Gin
  • 1.5oz fresh orange juice
  • .5oz fresh lemon juice
  • .5oz Pavan
  • .5oz velvet falernum
  • Golden Road Mango Cart Ale

Instructions:

  • Combine all ingredients, except beer, into a shaking tin.
  • Shake hard, then fine strain neat into rocks glass that is rimmed with Tajin Clasico seasoning.
  • Top with Golden Road Mango Cart Ale.

Sometimes it can seem impossible to “screw up” a mimosa, but Skrewball Whiskey is taking a different approach to the boozy brunch cocktails. Thinking about this cocktail, the fruit juice needs to work well with that peanut butter forward flavor. For example, the tartness of the grapefruit might not be the greatest, but maybe a strawberry forward juice would be nice. It would be just like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Directions:

  • Add champagne, preferred fruit juice and Skrewball into flute; stir to combine.
  • Garnish with fruit (optional).

Lastly, boozy brunch cocktails have a boost of immunity by choosing a particular juice. In this recipe from Uncle Matt’s, it uses Uncle Matt’s Ultimate Immune Juice. While there are a few more extras in the glass, that juice makes everyone feel a little fortified with that juice option.

Uncle Matt’s Ultimate Immune Mule

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1 oz Blood Orange Liquor
  • 1 oz Uncle Matt’s Ultimate Immune Juice
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1 Ginger Beer

Instructions:

  • Combine all ingredients, including Uncle Matt’s Ultimate Immune, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for about a minute, then pour over a glass with ice and top with your favorite ginger beer. Garnish as desired and enjoy!

These boozy brunch cocktails are just a few of many, many options that can be poured. Whether the food and beverage are classic, innovative, or something in between, it is time to try something new. Time to start toasting.
