A Food Network fan favorite show is back with a new twist. Nine food trucks are ready to roll, but only one will earn the $50,000 prize. Ready for The Great Food Truck Race David vs. Goliath?

For 16 seasons, The Great Food Truck Race has been a traveling across the U.S. and giving people a taste of delicious food. While the teams must deliver dishes that make guests hungry for more, the food television competition is more than just cooking an amazing dish. Being smart with pricing, marketing, and the business of a food truck are imperative aspects to a team’s success.

According to Food Network, The Great Food Truck Race David vs. Goliath episode 1 features the following:

"For the first time in The Great Food Truck Race’s history, Tyler Florence pits four food truck pros against five food truck rookies in an epic David vs. Goliath battle to win $50,000. The nine teams arrive in Los Angeles ready to fight, but no one is prepared for the twists and turns Tyler has in store. With over 4,000 licensed food trucks already on streets, the competition in Los Angeles proves to be one of the toughest challenges."

The premise of rookies versus veterans should prove to be compelling food television. Although the rookies might have the culinary knowledge and desire, they might lack to real experience that is necessary. As seen in some of the promotional videos, it could be as simple as appreciating how to maneuver the truck.

Although this short synopsis does not share the actual challenge, the assumption is that the first episode is usually straight forward. The teams will need to find a good selling location, present some of their signature dishes, and capture all those sales. In the end, one team will be eliminated.

More importantly, the first episode can often give a glimpse into the top teams. Even though the season’s premise is rookies versus veterans, the experienced teams are not guaranteed a top placement. Being a little overconfident could lead to a rude awakening for some.
