As the food entrepreneurs hit the half-way point of the competition, Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars episode 5, “Campfire Feast” puts their skills to the fire. While this journey has been full of ups and downs, one team needs to hit their mark in this particular challenge.

According to FOX, Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars episode 5, “Campfire Feast” features the following:

"The nine remaining contestants head to the Arizona desert to prepare an outdoor dining experience. Adventure tourism is a booming business that requires entrepreneurs to know their customer and create an immersive experience with excellent hospitality. The competing teams will take ten thrill-seeking guests on a UTV tour, guide an outdoor activity and prepare a delicious meal to end the day. The guests will leave feedback on their experience and the team with the most positive reviews wins. Gordon will send one person from the losing team home in the all new “Campfire Feast” episode of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars airing Wednesday, June 21 (9:02-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

While that description sets up the challenge, the food entrepreneurs need to balance the fun and the task. Sure, those rides through the dessert can get the heart pumping, but this challenge is not the best UTV driver.

While Caroline might love driving that UTV, she has been driving her opinion in these team challenges. Her success through her brand, Pizza Girl, has given her the confidence to know how to market a popular product. Still, the team dynamic is not always that simple. Balancing people’s personalities while still getting the best possible outcome is part of a thriving business environment.

Looking back at the season so far, the challenges are entertaining but the purpose behind them is more substantial. For one person to get the $250,000 funding from Gordon Ramsay, they need to prove that their food knowledge is not limited to just their particular business plan. Understanding the food industry, how to market themselves, and how to manage people are all vital to a company earning top billing.

As seen in the ghost kitchen challenge, the competitive nature of the industry requires a brand to stand out. Beyond the enticing visual, the idea needs to deliver on its promise. Even though the person behind the company is as important as the concept, all the aspects need to work in harmony to become that sought after product.

Although this Adventure Tourism aspect might be a little different from a cold-brew horchata or a superfoods cookie, the reality is that people need to see themselves in a concept and relate to it. For the person who never wants to sit on the couch, the product that fits into that lifestyle will be there preferred choice. Or, it could be the item found on that adventure that is brought home. Enjoying it again and again helps them relive that memory.

Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars episode 5 might be the fork in the road for the competition. Can one of these food entrepreneurs race to the front of the pack? Be sure to watch new episodes of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET and stream the next day on Hulu.
