While the American whiskey field is quite diverse, some drinkers gravitate to the spirit which infuses the liquor in the bottle. Beyond the grain and the expertise of the distiller, the brand’s story weaves its way into each offering. With the WhistlePig FarmStock Beyond Bonded, this expression pushes the boundaries into a bigger experimental liquor conversation.

Over the years, WhistlePig has never been afraid to push the conversation in their own direction. While the brand has forayed into a non-alcoholic cocktail and even captured the sun’s potential in another option, the reality is that the creativity keeps whiskey drinkers engaged. Even though the classic offerings will always be a great pour, it is the special releases that endear the brand to many drinkers.

With the limited release of WhistlePig FarmStock Beyond Bonded, the distiller wanted to do more with its Limited Edition 100% Farm-to-bottle whiskey. Focusing on a true grain to grass experience, WhistlePig tells the intricate story of how the superior spirit came to be enjoyed in the glass.

Speaking to the special offering’s commitment to the whiskey world, Meghan Ireland, Chief Blender at WhistlePig said, “First, to relentlessly experiment to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Beyond Bonded is our greatest experiment in that we can control every detail of the process here on the Farm. Then, to turn that innovative spirit into whiskeys that are truly unique in quality and complexity. It started with Rye, and we’re having a grand time doing the same with Bourbon, Wheat and other whiskeys.”

At 100% proof, this whiskey makes the drinker take notice. While it deserves that moment in the spotlight, it is not overbearing or abrasive. The Rye dominate spirit moves the conversation away from other grains and puts the heirloom ingredient front and center. It might not necessarily be the most top of mind Vermont crop, but it is one that has stood the test of time.

Although each distiller has honed their craft and can geek out on barrels, char, and even temperatures, the grain to glass journey is a story that could change some people’s perceptions of this whiskey. It might not instantly convert a gin drinker to a dark spirit lover, but it might give farm to table enthusiasts a reason to pair the liquor with a special dinner. It is not necessarily the old saying about growing together and going together, but it is a nice theme that could be a true journey on the table.

More importantly, it is another chapter in the importance and influence of the farmer. Seasonality, fresh, and local are concepts that always bring the flavor in every sip and bite.

The very limited release of WhistlePig FarmStock Beyond Bonded is available in Vermont at select locations including the WhistlePig Tasting Room. More information can be found on the brand’s website.
