Del Taco Honey Chipotle BBQ Brisket is another flavorful better Mex option

Even though the free use of the Taco Tuesday label has many restaurants celebrating the victory, some people would prefer the “better Mex” any day of the week. With the new Del Taco Honey Chipotle BBQ Brisket, these menu items blend a Tex favorite with the classic Mex flavors that guests have come to love.

Available beginning August 24, the Del Taco Honey Chipotle BBQ Brisket menu items include Honey Chipotle BBQ Brisket Quesadilla, Epic Honey Chipotle BBQ Brisket & Bacon Burrito, and Honey Chipotle BBQ Brisket & Bacon Fries. Basically, the low and slow meat is taking over the restaurant menu.

Speaking to this new offering, Tim Hackbardt, Del Taco’s Chief Marketing Officer said, “Our low and slow pit-smoked brisket brings the smoke, and the honey chipotle BBQ sauce brings the sweet to menu items that deliver another dimension of flavor in fast food. Add some of our NEW Funnel Cake Fries to any of our Brisket items and you have backyard BBQ flavor party to go.”

Looking at the brisket options, it is different from the traditional BBQ offerings from other fast casual restaurants. In this case, the addition of the smoky, spicy chipotle BBQ sauce adds another flavor that rounds out the eating experience. While it does not overpower the meat, it is the element that ties everything together.

Although guests will quickly choose a favorite from the three menu items, the reality is that each one has unique qualities that celebrate both the brisket and the BBQ sauce. While Del Taco might have other menu items that bring spicier options or add some brightness from salsa, this option seems to play into the craving for robust flavors going into fall. It feels hearty without becoming heavy.

Previously, Del Taco offered some Honey Chipotle BBQ food items. Offered two years ago, those options focused on chicken. For anyone who loved that sauce previously, they will enjoy these new menu items as well.

While the honey Chipotle BBQ Brisket deserved prime placement on the table, the meal is not complete with the new Funnel Cake Fries. Even if state fair season has come to a close, the simple, sweet dessert will make anyone feel like a kid again.

The simple dessert features fried batter topped with powdered sugar. Enjoyed warm, it is simple but quite enjoyable. After all, a sweet note after those BBQ flavors is a perfect ending.
