When the fast casual restaurant opened its first location in 1983, the idea of innovative American Chinese cuisine might not have had a clear frame of reference. For the past 40 years, Panda Express has delighted guests with tasty and original offerings. The new Panda Express dessert is that flavorful blend of American and Chinese classic comfort food.

Whether people use chopsticks or a fork, the American Chinese dishes from Panda Express deliver what people expect. From the brand’s iconic Original Orange Chicken to one of the newer wagyu dishes, the flavors are approachable and satisfy people’s cravings.

Even though there may be a fortune cookie at the end of a meal, some people would prefer to have a bigger sweet offering. As seen in a recent announcement, the new Panda Express dessert is that tempting option. Hungry for an Apple Pie Roll?

Discussing both the 40th anniversary of the business and the new dessert offering, Andrea Cherng, Chief Brand Officer at Panda Express said, “As we reflect upon Panda Express’s forty-year journey, we are incredibly grateful for our pioneers that paved the way for Panda to create and popularize American Chinese food, and for our guests and communities for their embrace of our cuisine. In celebration of Panda Express’s 40th birthday, we are introducing what we hope to be the next beloved American Chinese classic, Apple Pie Roll, our first-ever dessert and a sweet and fun celebration of our American and Chinese origins.”

The Apple Pie Roll stuffs pieces of apple, cinnamon sugar and spices in a flaky wanton wrapper. No worries about a soggy bottom in this dessert. It is crunchy, sweet, and quite delicious. Although there is no dipping sauce, some people might like a honey drizzle (especially a spicy honey).

Adding a dessert option is smart for Panda Express. Given that the option is an extension of its American Chinese concept, this take on apple pie is smart. Reimagining an egg roll into a dessert might not be a new idea, but it is one that many people will happily purchase. Who hasn’t purchased a dessert just on an impulse to complete the meal?

To celebrate the new Panda Express dessert, Panda Rewards members can receive a free Apple Pie Roll via the loyalty program. Check online for more details on how to redeem.
