The idea of flying the friendly skies is being transformed into flying the food-filled skies. While passengers in First Class, and even Business Class, often benefit from esteemed chef curated meals, Alaska Airlines is infusing culinary creativity throughout the aircraft. With the newest menu options, people will be happy to put down their tray tables.
Airline travel can be complicated. It is more than ensuring the Real ID is available for TSA or there is enough time to make a connection. Dealing with fellow travelers, finding tasty food, and even the overall travel production can make even the start of a vacation seem tedious.
In recent months, many airlines have decided to enhance elements of the travel experience for guests. From upgrading their lounges with celebrated chef offerings to pouring specialty beverages on board, these food and beverage choices are being considerate of consumers’ wants. If a person is heading to a luxury resort, they do not want to feel like it is a budget experience on the way there.
Alaska Airlines has been committed raising the bar with its onboard experiences. Always committed to showcasing locally sourced brands, the recent upgrades have included highlight Lagunitas non-alcoholic beer, especially Straightaway espresso martinis, and a variety of other items.
In a recent announcement, the airline company shared that both its First Class cabin and its main cabin will see several changes to its food offerings. Continuing its partnership with Chef Brandon Jew, owner of San Francisco's Michelin-starred Mister Jiu's, First Class passengers between San Francisco and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport can enjoy select offerings from Chef Jew.
The new offerings celebrate the San Francisco Bay area and local ingredients. While still staying strongly connected to Chef Jew’s Chinese culture, the blend of traditional flavors with sustainable ingredients proves that airline food can be bold and forward thinking.
Additionally, Main Cabin guests have an expanded menu. Continuing its collaboration with Evergreens, Main Cabin guests can enjoy Best Laid Plants, a 100% plant-based and gluten-free dish. Available as a pre-order on flights over 1,100 miles, the grain bowl features Chimichurri Tofu. The bold flavors are a welcome treat while soaring to that next destination.
A complete list of new food menu items can be found on the Alaska Airlines website. As the provider which offers “more inflight dining choices than any other U.S. carrier,” Alaska Airlines sets itself apart in the crowded market. With companies cutting routes and skimping on offerings, it is nice to see one company soar in another direction.
