While he helps millions of people ring in the New Year from his vantage point in Times Square, Andy Cohen has simple words of advice for everyone this holiday. Being the life of the party can be fun, but it is not for the amateur set.

New Year’s Eve can be a momentous occasion. With bottles popped and libations flowing, many people can let the inhibitions fade from view. Whether it is liquid courage or willingness to step out of their comfort zone, many people are excited to toast to the celebration.

Although some people can party with the best of them, others might not let that wild side appear as frequently. Andy Cohen has been no stranger to enjoying a cocktail or two. From Watch What Happens Live's Shotski to playing drinking games, he understands that some people enjoy a spirited toast.

During a recent conversation through his partnership with Fresca Mixed, Cohen shared his thoughts on New Year’s Eve and what to do when some guests might have tippled a little too much. Candidly, he said “I’m not going to invite anyone to my house who’s not going to know how to negotiate New Year’s Eve. But, the best advice is normally to hand them a bottle of water and say you’re good for now" if that moment gets too much.

While that advice is smart to follow at any gathering, it makes even more sense for New Year’s Eve. Even when guests grab another Fresca Mixed, it is best to keep drinking moderate.

Cohen went onto share, “Let Anderson and I go to Times Square. There are plenty of people on the streets that might be New Year’s Eve amateurs. It is really why you should stay home and entertain on New Year’s Eve. Whether it is a small or large group, I’m at Times Square so you don’t have to be.”

With the idea of staying in for the celebration, hosts need to make it easy on themselves. Whether it is serving a ready to drink cocktail like Fresca Mixed or just popping a bottle of bubbles, the reality is that people thirst for good company and spirited conversation. It is time to scrape the barnacles off the guest list and gather with people who make life fuller. That sentiment is the toast that lasts every day of the year.
